Lessons in the Key of Life
Frequently Asked Questions
How did you evolve as a coach?
In 1973, I was a newly minted educational psychologist, with a background in Gestalt psychology,
existential phenomenology and large group awareness training. While the enabling me to make great
strides in self-confidence and self-expression, I still felt a bit approach to learning and development
had served disconnected in ways I did not understand.
As it turns out, what I was missing most was a connection to my spiritual side, to my Soul. I began
studying a form of meditation called spiritual exercises which are intended to strengthen you spiritually,
much like physical exercise is intended to strengthen one's body,
As I grew in my own spiritual awareness, I began to realize that my life's work was about helping
people succeed in the physical world without having to sacrifice their personal or spiritual values.
In 1978, I created Insight Seminars, a personal transformation seminar which grew from a spare
bedroom in my Santa Monica home to become a worldwide training and development company
operating in 34 countries around the globe.
The intent of Insight Seminars was to help people discover the keys of awareness, responsibility,
accountability and choice as a way to connect who they truly are to the practical, day-to-day world in a
way that will allow them to experience greater success and fulfillment.
By the early 1980's I found myself invited into a number of corporations, initially to help with team
building and alignment. I soon discovered some common threads that linked personal awareness and
personal growth with business success and business transformation.
Linking personal, spiritual and business growth have become the principle focus of my work for 35
years now.
How do I know if coaching is for me? How do I know if you are the right coach for me?
GREAT questions! Coaching is so personal and your relationship with your coach so unique, that you
really should feel confident in your choice before committing to a coaching series. I have found that the
best way to find out is to test the waters and so I offer all new clients a complimentary, no charge initial
session as a way of finding out. Please do feel free to contact me about setting up your no charge, 45
minute initial session. We will define some goals and help you explore what you might expect from
working with me. Once you have had a direct experience, you should have a better feel for whether my
style of coaching is appropriate for you. If you are interested, just click on this link Russell Bishop and
send me a message. I will reply shortly and we can set up your complimentary telephone session.
